FAIR WIND JANCRIES The round-the-world regatta has finished, but Jancris keeps on.
Following their successful performance at the "Millennium Odyssey
1998-2000", a round-the-world regatta for sailing boats, Nicoletta and Alfredo
Giacon will set sail along with some other boats representing Italy´s northern regions.
This international tour, which symbolizes the spirit of the Athens Olympics,
is supported by local authorities, and public and private institutions.
They will sail 15000 miles in four years starting from Athens (on the occasion of the
Olympics), towards the Mediterranean, Africa and Southern America to New York.
The project: in accordance with the Olympic spirit, they will bring a message of peace
and friendship among the population of the three continents on the occasion of
important international events such as the ABC rally, organized by World
Cruising (which is involved in the more popular ARC as well). It starts
from the Canary Islands, stops over Cape Verde, and arrives in Fortaleza, Brazil.
Alfredo and Nicoletta Giacon will participate in the sail week in Antigua and
in some regattas in Florida, Washington and New York. They will arrange some
meetings with Paduan communities abroad, in collaboration with the Association
Paduans in the world, and they will become the bearers of a tangible show of
affection from Padua. The legs: Athens, Crete, Tunisia, Balearic Islands, Morocco,
Canaries, Cape Verde, Fortaleza, San Paolo, Fernando de Norogna, Guiana, Venezuela,
Caribbean Islands, Costa Rica, Belize, Mexico, Cuba, Florida, Carolina, Virginia,
Washington and New York.
