Alfredo Giacon (1961) and his wife Nicoletta have been living for years on their sailboat, Jancris. He has been navigating since 1993 and has always tried to reconcile his passion for sailing with journalism. In fact, he is an expert skin diver and a well-esteemed journalist.

The couple participated in the "Millennium Odyssey 1998-2000", a round-the-world regatta for sailing boats. They sailed 25,000 miles in two years, and this successful competition drove them to the 3rd place overall.

After such a remarkable experience, Alfredo conceived his first written work "Oltre l´orizzonte" (Beyond the Horizon), published by Mursia in 2001.
On the advice of Jimmy Cornell, one of his friends, Alfredo planned the "Mediterranean Odyssey" just after his round-the-world voyage.

It is an international sea-going regatta calling at the main ports of six Mediterranean countries.
Following their return to the above Sea, the couple will set sail again aboard the Jancris for the Aegean; it was just in that place where Alfredo and Nicoletta started their new travelling life ten years ago.

This radical change in their lifestyle has implied a series of fears, doubts and surprises; however, their outlook is open-minded and positive. They do consider their approach to life as a romantic quest for peace and freedom, far from industrial civilization.

The recollection of the many Aegean islands they visited during their 4-year sailing (before their round-the-world voyage) has been evoked in Alfredo´s latest book entitled "Magico Egeo" (The Magic Aegean Sea), published by Mursia in 2004.
